We are the statewide branch of the IEEE.
Dr. G. Clifford Carter, a Life Fellow member of the Connecticut Section, has been named the recipient of the 2012 IEEE Jack S. Kilby Signal Processing Medal for outstanding achievements in signal processing. The award citation reads, "For contributions to the fundamentals of coherence and time-delay estimation and to underwater acoustics signal processing." The award is sponsored by Texas Instruments, Inc. Before retiring, Dr. Carter was U.S. Navy's Senior Technologist (ST) for Acoustic Signal Processing, at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Division Newport, in Newport, RI. Dr. Carter will receive this most prestigious award in a formal presentation at a 2012 IEEE Honors Ceremony on 30 June 2012, in Boston, MA. Both Charles Rubenstein and Howard Michel are seeking to run as petition candidates in 2012. Charles wishes to run for IEEE-USA President-Elect 2013; Howard, IEEE President-Elect 2013. Charles Rubenstein is our current Region 1 Director. Howard Michel served as Region 1 Director in 2008.
